Explorers! As the first event in Jurassic World Alive is coming to an end, we simply want to provide everyone a summary of what went on during the Special Event that is nearly over in Jurassic World Alive, as it seems that Ludia has dropped the ball on that one.
Editor’s note: As of June 10th, 9:00 a.m. it has been more than 3 days since Ludia announced on their forum that they had found a fix for the Daily Event cycles. However, nothing seems to have been implemented in the game so far and at this point, it seems unlikely that this event will be fixed before it ends…
What is going on?
First, as we mentioned in our News Roundup, Ludia has made the decision to change the Daily Events’ durations from 24 hours to 12 hours following complaints from players. The complaints were addressing the fact that once the Daily Event completed, Explorers had access to a smaller variety of Dinos in the wild since Special Event Supply Drops would only spawn Featured Dinosaur regardless of completion of the Daily Event. Those complaints are understable. However, Ludia’s reaction is a bit odd in our opinion.
This had a direct impact on some players depending of their timezone. In other words, in some timezone, people will have access to the featured Dino during the night, while more fortunate players will have access to it during the day.
On June 7th, Ludia announced that they had found a permanent solution. This would mean that:
- Daily Events were announced to return to 24 hours cycles as of a date and time yet to be determined (not yet in effect);
- Regular spawns would be “significantly increased” (Ludia’s words), not yet in effect;
In short, according to this announcement, there should be one Featured Dino per 24 hours (i.e. per day), but two days later it is still not the case. This Featured Dino would spawn from 9:00 a.m. EST for the following 24 hours. During that time, regular spawns would be significantly increased to make up for the fact that players cannot collect any more DNA from a Featured Dino once all attempts are completed. However, that’s not what is actually in place… The system currently, as of June 10th, in place goes as follows:
Between 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 EDT, a Featured Dino spawns under Special Event Supply Drops (SESD). Between 9:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. EDT, the SESDs and the Featured Dinos leave to make room for regular spawns and regular Supply drops. Sadly, this system affects people around the world as this cycle in different timezones prevents some players to actually benefit from the event!
Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom was recently released in some countries, but has not yet been released in others such as Canada or the US. Provided that Ludia has not yet fixed this event while it would supposedly end today, we believe that this Special Event may extend until the release of the movie in Canada and the US.
This would allow Ludia to introduce a new Hybrid on a weekly basis, until the movie reaches Canada and the US, when the new Hybrid could potentially be the star of the new movie: Indoraptor!
What do you think will happen provided that Ludia said they had found a permanent solution for the spawn issue of this event, but have not yet implemented the fix?
Were all these changes announced anywhere?
The first change was announced rather late and quietly on Ludia’s forums as such that the announcement didn’t get as nearly as much attention as the original announcement of the event.
The second announcement was announced via Twitter right from the start, as should have been done with the first announcement.
Now, onto the better news. As we predicted (see the full schedule here), Stegosaurus is the new Featured Dinosaur for the day! Make every dart count as Stegosaurus has two very powerful Hybrids, Stegoceratops and Stegodeus. For the recipes, click here!
Here’s how the Special Event now works:
- You should now have 24 hours to collect DNA from the Featured Dino;
- You have 12 attempts for Commons, and 3 for Rares/Epics Featured Dinos;
- Special Supply Drops and regular Supply Drops now have a shared coin and hard-cash cap.
We are certainly without words as to how the first event in the history of Jurassic World Alive changed so suddenly twice. How do you feel about these changes? Or the simple fact that changes happened so quickly and twice during an event? How do you feel about this whole situation?
